Government Stallions.

A return laid pa the table of the Legislative Council give* the cost of the horses lately Imported by the Government as follows: Thoroughbreds: Singlestick 11., £487 ; Tyranny, £339; Serapin, £455 ; Malachi, £889; Amasis, £286; Dopin, £366. Shires ; Danger Signal, £158; Hereford- r shire Boy, £l96* It is explained that the thoroughbreds were imported to encourage the breeding of army remounts, and the Shires (presented by Lord Rothschild) for the itmiroVement of draught stock. The stations for these sires during the" ensuing season are : Singlestick II; at Waikato ; Tyranny, Momohaki; Serapin, Oamaru; Malachi, Christchurch Amasis, Levin ;Lupin,,Edendale; Danger Bivnal, Oamaru ; Here* fordshiie Boy, Motnohaki. The fees are .ten. guineas for a limited/ number of pedigree stock, and two guineas for each mare Suitable for remounts; Danger Signal, four guineas to five guineas;' Herefordshire Boy, three and a half guineas to four guineas.
