HUNTER. September 28. Wind and more wind is what we have been experiencing of late in the way of weather ; but at last the long-looked foi and devoutly wished for rain ban come, and you may expect to sie the farmers in town an Saturday With hopeful aud smiling faces. We have had fine warm rain from very early this morning till noon, and a Blight shower in the afternoon, which is sure to do the country a deal of good j still, we could with a lot, and like Oliver Twist are asking for more. An ordinary eooial evening was held on Tuesday at the Library, when cards, draughts, etc., were indulged in by the members till cloning time. A meeting of hdies interested in the complimentary social to be tendered to Miss Bogan, who will be leaving the district shortly, was held in the schoolroom on the same evening. I have not been able to secure full particular* of this meeting being a mere man, but have a* certained that the function is to come off on October, 4th.
