Excelsior Ball.

The above took place on Thursday evening last in the Oddfellows' Hall, when, despite the unpropituous state of the wenther, a fair number attended, about 40 couples taking part iu the grand march, which was led off by Mr H. McPhee and Miss Colbeck. The hall had been beautifully decorated by Messrs Drayton Bros., assisted by Messrs H. Blake and McPhee, and the result reflected great credit on their taste. The floor, we need hardly mention, was all that could be desired, being frequently attended to during the evening by the genial and obliging M.O. (Mr Frank Drayton), who spared no pains in his efforts to please all, and in this he was most successful. The music supplied by Mr A. Miller (violin) and Miss A. Gaitt (piano) was, as usual, of a first-class order. During the evening Mr A. Cooper kindly lent his services to the evening's enjoyment by playing on the bagpipes a couple of highland dances. Messrs Fulton and H. Blake also relieved the musicians with a duet rendered in good style and enjoyed by all. An abundance of good things was provided, and altogether the management are*to be congratulated on the success attending their efforts. Dancing was kept up till 3 a.m.
