Hockey.

The Sydenham team arrived from Christchureb yesterday by express, and last evening ware entertained at a social by the local club. Miss Gaitt and Mr A. Miller supplied excellent music, and Mr W. Meyer made a capital M.O. The eociaf was a great success, and broke up about one o'clock.

Tho match this afternoon will commence at 1.45, so as to allow the visitors to leave by oxpress. The following are the visitors' team : —Threequarter-back*, Kennedy and Sibbatd ; five-eighth, Langdown (captain) ; halves, Bailey, Harvey and Snell.; forwards, Ford, Jacobs, Adams, Craig and Perkins. The Waimate team appeared last issue.
