Road Grader Trial.
On Tuesday a trial of the County Council's road grader took place on John street and the continuation of Victoria Terrace. The side 3of the road were first ploughed and then tho graler used to clean out the side channels and heap up tho material ready to be carted away. The work was carried out by the County Council men under tha supervision of Mr 0. E. Bremnc, County Engineer. His Worship the Mayor and all the councillors were present, and each ona agreed that good work was done —work that one councillor said would have taken a man a fortnight to do. It was calculated by another that with tha use of the gradtjr for four or fly week 3 the whole of the borough streets could be put in order, and this at £lO a week would be £-10 or £SO well Bpent. On most of the srreets of the town the material taken from the eidos of the streets oould be put in the centre, and so help to make up the crown, and it is to be hoped the Borough Council will enter into negotiations for the hire of the county grader for the time necessary to fix up the borough streets.
