Waikakahi school. On Friday evening la«t, a meeting, of householders in the Waikakahi School district was held at the residence of Mr Dixon. There was a large attendance of .householders, and on the motion of Mr Don, seconded by Mr DiXott, Mr Forester was eWed chairman. General correspondence whs read by Mr Boteham, secretary pro tbU. It was resolved that the fencing to be etectsd gratuitously, as promised by the householders, he the fencing to cables* the school grounds only, and It was also resolved that roads giving aeons* to the school as promised at » previous mee’lng be agreed to (the owners of the land through which the toads passed reserving the right to point out the direction such roads shall take'threugh their holdings), and that all legal expenses in Connection therewith shall be defrayed by the Education Board. The meeting then resolved Itself Into a Committee to Bee that all material needed for the erection of the school and fence he carted to the i school site free of charge, Mr Forrester to he convenor of the committee. Other correspondence being read, the meeting proceeded to elect a committee. The following were nominated * Messrs : Dixori, Don, Boreham, O’Connor, Elliott,; M'Orossan and Ray. Only five being requited, a ballot was taken With the result tha f the first fi- e were declared to U'eeted.. Votes of thanks to Mr Dixon tor the use of his house, to Mrs Dixon for her kind attention to the needs of the Inner-man, Mr Boreham, secretary, and Mr Forester, the chairman, brought the meeting of householders to a close. Subsequently, the committee met and chose as their chairman and treasurer, Mr John O’Connor. Mr 8. Boreham was elected secretary to the committee. The committee then considered the boundaries of ihn new echoo’ dis'fiot, and resolved that the boundaries as submitted by the : Board .be agreed to. The secretary having been instructed to communicate with the secretary of the Board re teacher, etc., a vote of tb'-nks to the chair concluded the first practical step towards a new -chool..
