ADDINGTON STOCK MARKETS. [By Telegeaph] . Christchurch July -24. In consequence of the heavy rain on Tuesday, there w*s a small entry of stuck at the Addington yards, and the attendance was below the a-ual number. The. s ore sheep entered totalled only 1349, and there was a good demand for all classes at the following rat r s; — Sheep.—479 four and six tooth soendnioU'hed ewes, 16* 7d ; 88 two and fnurtooths, 16s lid ; 109 wethers, 16s 3 i •, 206 at 16s, and 190 at 15s 51. The few fat lambs on offer were nearly all passed, as owners’ reserves were not reached. The entry of fat sheep was a very small one, but the - sale w s v ry dull and dragging Owing to th-. very Urge entry and lower pries last we-k, the butchers had stocked up heavily, and their re quiremenlH this week were cons- qu-mtly small There were no wethers bought for export, but a fow hns that were passed wm sent to the factory on owners’ aec"Ui t. Wethers made 16i to 21s 91; best owes, Iss to 17s 4d ; others, lls 4 t to 14 s - 6d ; m-'rino we: hers, 3s 3.1. Cattle.—'The fat cattle supply numbered 213 head, aud included some very prime lines. The market opened very ■ Weak but improved afterward-, and last rates were then maintained, some choice lots b r inging something more than quotations. A line of eight steers from Mr VV. F, M. Buckley, Dunsandel, brought £9 15s to £l4 7s 60, and four heif. re £lO to £ll 2s 6d : twelve steers from Highliold station, £lO 2s 6d to £ll lls, and six heifers £8 2s 6d to £8 10s ; other steers sold at £6 12s 61 to £lO ; heifers, £5 10a to £8 15s; cows, £4 15s to £8 10s, and extra to £9 15s, equal to 20s to 24s per 1001 b, according to quality. There was a small entry of store cattle, ard almost everything was passed, the higbestoffors being for t hree year-old ste-rs, £4 15s; three-year-old heifers, £4 3s and fifieen months mixed, £2 16s: A few dry cows were sold at £2 10s to £4. Fur the belter classes of dairy cows there wai a rather imoroved demand, sales ranging from £3 10s to £9 ss.
Pigs.—The supply of bacon pigs was one of the best of the season so far as quality was concerned, prime heavy weights being a feature in the market The presence of a buyer from Wellington improved the competition and caused a rise in Values. Porkers also sold well, but there was only a poor entry and sale for stores. Baooners made 35 to 59s 6d, equal to 3|d to 4d per lb.; porkers, 20s to 32s 6d, equal to 3|d per lb ; and small stores 8s to 12s.
