Conference of County Councils.
Wellington, July 19. The Counties Conference, amoug-fc otner concndaients to the Bill this morning, agreed that power should be taken to compel O'vne-B of land to have bush felled within a chain of the boundaries of roads where the bush involves danger to the road or to the travelling public. A proposal to strike out tbs provision for toll-gates on roads was negatived'» but funeral processions were escape! from tolls. Piggeries are not included in the list of general nuisances. It was decided that the counties should he given the same powers as boroughs in regard to nuisances. This afternoon the Counties Conference took up tha discussion of the bylaw relating to heavy traffic on county roads, and it was resolved that theßeVi - ing Committee should be inrtraotod to incorporate in clause 332 the provisions of the Publ c Works Act relating to heavy traffic, computation of rights, etc., that are omitted from the present Bill.
