CLEARING SALE.

The National Mortgage and Agency Company (per 0. H. Guthrie): report having held a clearing sale at Mr George Blackwell’s farm ac Moryen last Thursday. There was a large attendance 1 ot farmers, and everything went at good prices, owing mainly to Mr Blackwell having all his stock and machinery in tip-top order. The following are some of the prices realisedHoreoa, £26, £ll, £36, £lO 5a ; trap, £l3 5s - r drill, £3l 10s and £T; drays, £9> 10s and £6 6s ; lawn roller, £l2-15s; harrows, £5 10s ; plough, £9 10s; ewe lambs, ,13s sd; lambs, 10s 6d; fat ewes, 12a ; ewes in lamb, 10s; cows, £S 10B; fat pigs, £2 2s to £2 Bs.

There was a moderate entry ofstook in the yards, and ft fkir attendance, the bitterly cold weather preventing any but those having actual business to transact from putting in an appearance. There were only 868 str»re sheep yardel, being wethers and hoggets, and they sold well, 103 wethets -making 18s lOd, and smell lots 16s Id to 16s 6d, 116 hoggets 12a 9-1 and 82 12s 2d. There was a fair entry ot fat lambs, and they met with a good competition, selling at 14s to 16s 6d and up to 17s 3d for extra heavy and prime. The supply of fat sheep was a comparatively short oUe,bat it includ' d some good lines of freezing wethers. In tK- fat cattle pens there was an entry of 239 head, a considerable proportion-being heivy steers. Competition was fairly bri: k, and last week’s price* were very Well maintained and equal to 19s to 24s per lOOlbs, according to quality. A lirte of twelve steers from Mir W. P. M. Buckley, Duns>ndell, made £8 10s to £ll, and ordinary steer* brought £6 7a 61 to £ll sa, heifers £5 to £8 12s 6d, and cows £4 17s 6d to £8- I7s 6d. There was an average yarding of pigs, but except for heavy baooners there was a dull sale for all classes. Baooners made 20s to 46s and up to 61s for extra weight, equal to 3&d per lb, porkers 20s to 305,. equal to 3|d per lb, forward stores 13s to 19s 6d, stores 8s to 14s, aud suckers and weaners 4s to 6s, ENGLISH MARKETS. The Agent-General's market message, dated. London, June 20,' is as follows The average price of Canterbury mutton to-day is 3£d. ; ‘Dunedin and Southland, 3|d ; North Island, 3Jd | Australian, 2id; River Plate, 2id. The mutton market is qme f . Trade for all classes has been very slow, and prices' are barely maintained. The market is over-supplied with heavy carcases, and very few really prime have been-marketed lately. Canterbury lamb, 6i'lbrands other - .than Canterbury, 5 ,l-Bd. There is a good demand for all lamb. Many of the lambs : coming forward this season are too heavy, and have to be sold as tegs at reduced prices. ; Beef.—New Zealandhihds, 3|d ; fores, 2|d; Tho beef market is vefy dull, and there is scarcely any demand for beef fores.
