The Rout.h African Land bettlomenb Commission which was appointed duri' g the last Pm ilament on the motion of Mr H. O. A'nold-Fosler, has is-ued ila report.
It states that unless a strenuous effort is made to establish a thoroughly Butish population in the conquered h!tales, the sacrifice of war will be absolutely wasted.
It advises the compulsory acquisition >i pr.va’e lands for settlement., on tho in* s adopted in New Zealand ; approved of the proposal Mat soldiers ought to bo given farms of 100 acres to 6000 acres, and be assisted to stack them, subject Home military obligations. Purely military settlements, the report dds, are undesirable, but the liberal employment of soldiers upon the i ailways is urg d ; also the fonnd ng f military horse-breeding cstvblu.hmonis.
