Horrible Murder Near Christchurch.
Three People Killed.

This morning news reached hero that a shocking triple murder had ba'-u perpetrated at East Eyreton. The victims are Mrs Henry Martin (widow), over seventy Ellen Martin, her unmarried daughter ■(forty), and little grandson, Lorimer Martin (four). They were people veil respected and in comfortable circumstances. They lived 400 yards from the road in an isolated poat-ion, and attention was drawn to the fact that none of them had been 8 )0n since Friday. A son-in-law found the house locked Up, and forced an . entrance through, a window. He found the old lady dead, lying fo.ee downwards in the bedroom, and after calling assistance, found the child dead on the •niittress and Miss Martin in the kitchen. All the bodies were horribly cut, evidently by a tomahawk found on the floor, and each 'Skill was cleft open. The house hid been ransacked from top to bifctora. There was no other oecu-, ipmt of the house, which is a two- 1 storied one, except a man servant named McLean, who is missing.; Ho bad been in Mrs Martin’s ■ employ two months.
