Golf.
In response to an invitation, kindly given by Mr Studholme to the Timaru and Oniuaru golf Clubs, six members of each club met on Thursday morning on the links ou the Waimate station. This is a six-holed course, which had been specially laid out for the meeting of the members of the two clubs, and was very judiciously interspersed with hazards throughout, the sheepyards forming a formidable example, hard to negotiate successfully. Foursomes were engaged in during the forenoon, when twelve holes were played. This preliminary game gave the strangers a splendid opportunity of becoming familiar with the links prior to the singles, which wore played after Innch, when eighteen holes was the match. The weather was simply beautiful, and it is needless to add that the hospitable manner in which the visitors were entertained left nothing to be desired, and helped very materially to make the day’s outing most pleasant. The following is the result of the game —the Oamaru players being mentioned first : FOURSOMES, C. Holmes and W. R. Darling 6, beat R. Summerville and E. 0. Stud holme, 3; H. M. Roxby and B. Gillies 4, tied with 0. A. Jeffexson and C. T. H. Perry, 4; T. H. Liddle and F Newton 8, beat R. Ferguson and H Hertslett, 3. Totals—Oamaru, 18 ; Timaru, 10.
