Sir A. Milner in England.
London, May 24. Sir A. Milner w.is accorded . tremendous receptions on arriving at Southampton, and at Waterloo Station, where Lord Roberts and many members of the Ministry welcomed him. Lord Salisbury and Mr Chamberlain escorted him to Marlborough House, where the King, in a brief interview, conferred a peerage on Sir A. Milntsr. May 25. It is understood that Sir A. Milner, under the title of Lord Milner, takes his seat in the House of Lords in June. The voyage has greatly improved his heelth. He lunched with the King and dined with the Earl of Solbourne, First Lord of the Admiralty. The newspapers are delighted at the peerage, which is a fitting sequel to the honour conferred by Qnee"n Victoria on. Earl Koberts ia January
i Riots in Si. Petersburg. S'.r. Pi;:'.vi:iwMin:o, May 2,4. In I'iols, whicii oi:canvil in the Viihorg fjH-ii'iot-, St. Poters'oai'g. twenty workmen were injured and hundreds were arrested. Six police were killed, includ ing an officer. The workmen employed a Obqnskoff naval arsenal, when refused eight hours and higher wages rioted, stoning the troops and killing several. Numerous arrests were made, and many rioters were killed and injured.
