The Coronation Oath.

Sydney, May 15, The Presbyterian General Assembly discussed the proposed modification of the Coronation oath. The Rov. Dill Micky moved to the effect—“ That the Presbyterian Church of Ne\y South Wales enters a most earnest, solemn protest against any alteration.” In the course of a W'-umi attack on the trend of the English Church towards Pome he said it was not possible now to say which priests of the Anglican Church had been ordained according to tiie form of the Church of Pome. The movement had for its object the obtaining of the Throne of England for the Roman Church. If the oath were altered in any degree it would be making an opening for the Roman Church to gain the ascendancy over the English Throne. The Rev, Dr Clonston moved as an amendment—■“ That the Assembly does not offer any objection to such modification of the Coronation declaration as, while preserving theProtestantisrn of the Throne, shall be less objectionable.” The motion was negatived and the amendment carried.
