The Sontli Canterbury harriers met at Mr R. Boll’s, Hook, yesterday and about half past one were taken to a paddock near the house, where, after one or two short runs, a strong hare was got going and making past the homestead took the field over gome splendid hunting country, across the road and into Mr Steffens’ property. It then doubled back and round into Mr Bell’s, but being about beaten, again-doubled back' on to the road where if made under a culvert, but was soon driven out and pulled down by the bounds. Between twenty-five *and thirty fences must have been cleared in tbo run, and only one spill took place, Mr B. Whitney coming off at a rough fence with wire, and his horse rolling over him. No damage was done, however, except that the rider’s chest was somewhat' bruised. Tbe huntsman was "‘Mr Orton, on a roan, the whip on a- black.- Other's foPowing close up were Miss -Whitney, Messrs Connelly, 0. Studholme, Hurley, A. .Smith, R. Bell, Tavendaler Reason, Fox, B'. Whitney and S. O’Neill, The Rev. McKenzie Gibsoti was also out Watching the sport', as were several others. After a short spell the bounds -were taken back to Mr Bell’s,'Where another good run was got, the bare making towards the Hunter and then doubling- back was lost. After a quarter of an-hour’s search;the hounds were whipped off, everyone being Well satisfiechwitb tho day’s- sporbr:
