The Trouble in China.
London, April 9. The leading part played by Japan in securing the rejection cf the Manchurian agreement has greatly impressed the Chinese. While the Empress Dowager vigorously opposes the removal of the Court from Singan-fu, the Emperor desires closer contact with the Yangtse Viceroys. It is thought possible that the Emperor will shortly remove the Court to Kaifungfu, the cipital of Honan. April 10. The Viceroys and Governors of the provinces memoralise. the Throne immediately to decree that the loyal Princes and Chinese autocrats should travel and study in foreign countries ; that the army should be reorganised on western methods; that colleges and schools should he extended ; and that a standard dollar currency should be adopted. The Times correspondent at Pekin reports that the Powers consider the present a favourable opportunity of securing the recognition of Manchuria as an integral pait of China. The Foreign Ministers are accordingly making arrangements to include the desired recognition of Manchuria’s position in a general settlement of the Chinese difficulty. Li Hung Chang be'ievea that Princes Tuan, Tung, and Fusiang are creating a rebellion in order to secure their personal pardon. Svdnkt, April 11. The Ckingfca with the New South Wales Contingent sailed from Hongkong, for Sydney on April sth.
