County Council COUNTY OF WAIMATE. TBLtC NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in “ The Counties Act, 1886/’ “ The Water Supply Act, 1891,” and “ The Water Supply Act Amendment Act, 1898,” that under, and by virtue of the said powers and provisions, a resolution was adopted by the Wairaate County Council, on the 18th DAY OF MARCH, 1901, to make certain By-laws, to come into force on the Bth DAY OF MAY, 1901, the object and purport whereof are hereinafter stated by a special order of the said Council, and that the meeting at which it is proposed to confirm the said resolution will be held op the 22no, DAY OF APRIL, 1901. A <sopy of the said proposed By-laws are Council at Waimate, and are, and shall, up till the day of the said meeting, be open to the inspection of the public during office hours. OBJECTS AND PURPORT OF THE PROPOSED BY-LAWS. By-law No 1. —To prescribe the terms and conditions upon which water may be used from water races within the County of V?annate, the rates and charges made for water supplied, and the manner of payment of the same, and the amount of same and by whom to be paid, and the land in respect of which the same shall be paid, and the time and place of payment. By law No 2.—To provide for the maintenance and repair of water races within the said County, and to proscribe who shall be liable for the same and the manner in which such liability shell be enforced. To provide for the protection of water races, prohibiting persons from doing or suffering the acts, matters and things in respect of water races as therein set forth, and prescribing a penalty for the breach of the said By-law. To provide for entry on and passing over private laud by persons employed by the Council for purposes connected with the said water races, and making other provisions in respect of the control and management of water races by the Council.
