A generaTmeeting'of the above was held in the County C ouncil Chambers on Saturday afternoon last, there being about twenty members present. Mr W. H. Beckett occupied the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Apologies for absence \sere read from Messrs Studholme and Adams. , The secretary brought up tme question of having a siding erected in the vicinity of the Society’s grounds, for the convenience of exhibitors coming from a distance, aud after a considerable amount of desultory discussion it was decided that the secretary write to Major Steward, and report at a future meeting. The question of fencing was brought up, and Mr Baxter suggested paying a man to watcli and see that no one entered the ground by means of the fence at the bo- j ciety’s annual gathering. . The chairman aaid'-he had paid a man 7s Gd to do 'this last year, but found it did not pay. rle j thought the fence should be renewed. •. , After some discussion Mr Mitchell proposed that the section be fenced with broadleaf posts and barbed wire. ~ This was seconded by Mr Hertslet, provided that such fence was in keeping with the by-law. The secretary read a letter from Mr A. G. Campbell, assistant secretary of the Dunedin Agricultural Society, asking whetbe. the Waimate Society could send any exhibits to their show to be held during the Boyal visit. Mr Mitchell thought it would be advisable to form a committee to make enquiries, and the tollowinc- gentlemen were appointed . Messrs Beckett, Studholme, Francis. Douglas, McGowan, and McG overin. The balance-sheet was read, and showed a credit balance of £«■>">, , Several accounts were passed for payment, after which the meeting adjourned.
