Our Volunteers.

- The annual muster parade of the Waimate Riih;s and Studholme Mounted Rifles was held in thedrillshed last evening, when there was a good muster of each company. The commander of the South Canterbury sub-district (Lieut. - Colonel Bailey) and Colonel Moore were on p:trade.

There were . fnriy-one me Tubers of the Waiinaie Rides in attendance, and SurgeonCaptain Barclay was also on parade. Each company was put through various evolutions under its own officers, to the satisfaction of the inspecting colonels.

After parade the Waimate Rifles held a meeting in the orderly room to consider the question of the captaincy, It was unanimously decided that Surgeon-Captain Barclay be asked to accept the position if elected by the corps, It was also decided that a requisition be left in the hands of Uia.utenant Jackson for signatur-6. |
