The Royal Visit.
London, March 22. The warships Diaoa and Andromeda are escorting the Duke and Duchess of York to Malta. Auckland, March 22. Mr John Holmes returned from Rotorua to-night, and reports that (.he people of Rotorua are enthusiastic in arranging (or the reception of the Duke and Duchess of York. At a large public meeting held last night it was decid d to send round a subscription list to defray the whole c ■ t of the receotion to tine Royal visitors. Mr Holmes leaves for Wellington on Sunday, arriving on Monday night. Dunedin, M mlAn offer will he made by the Dunedin Ciub to hand over the Club’s house and beautiful grounds for the use of the Duke and Duchess of York during their visit, Mrs Stephenson has agreed to place her house, which is immediately opposite the Club, at the disposal of the Royal party, and, if this should prove insufficient, Mr G. L. Denniston, whose residence adjoins, will place it at the disposal of the party. The late Duke of Edinburgh took up his abode on the occasion of his visit at what is now the Club.
