Notices. COUNTY OP WAIMATE. WATER RACE BY-LAWS. •pUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in “ The Counties Act,. 1886,” “ The Water Supply Act, 1891,” and “ The Water Supply Act Amendment Act, 1898,” that under, and by virtue of the said powers and provisions, a resolution was adopted by the Wafraate County Council, on the 18th DAY OF MARCH, 1901, to make certain By-laws, to come into force on the Bth DAY OF MAY, 1901, the object and purport whereof are hereinafter stated by a special order of the said Council, and that the meeting at which it is proposed to confirm the said resolution will ba held on the 22nd DAY OF APRIL, 1901. A copy of the said proposed By-laws are deposited in the office of the said Council at Waimate, and are, and shall, up till the day of the said meeting, be open to the inspection of the public during office hours.

OBJECTS AND PURPORT OF THE PROPOSED BY-LAWS. By-law No 1. —To prescribe the terms and conditions upon which water may be used from water races within the County of Waimate, the rates and charges made for water supplied, and the manner of payment of the same, and the amount of same and by whom co paid, and the land in rc*pect|of which the same sballlbe |aj|, and the time and [*loo ||9ayment. By law for the repair of water laco| wSjthin the said Countyvsanjjl to prescribe who shall be liable for the same / and the manner in which / such liability shalL-be enforced. To proytf9!e for the protection ojP* water races, from doing or sufficing the a«s, matters and /things in iSespect of water races as therein set forth, anj| a penalty Tor breach of the said By-law. for entry on aniLfpassing over private -lams by persons , employedmy the Council for purposes connected with the saickwater races, and making other provisions in respect of the control arid management of water races by the Council.
