The Royal Visit.

London, March 17 . The Duke of York replied to the joint message of the Agents-General that he was greatly touched by their telegram anticipating the colonies’ deep interest in the event of the Royal visit. ■Wellington, March 18. • The Premier, in answer to a deputation from the City Council, said tliat Ministers had come to a fixed determination not to subsidise local bodies’ expenditure on the reception of the Duke of Cornwall, and nothing had arisen to induce them to alter that decision. March 19. It is reported that the Duke of York is carrying £20,000 worth of presents for distribution ; also a list of Knighthoods as rewards for leading Federationists.
