Timaru Harbour Board.
A special mooring of the limaru Harbour Hoard'was belt) yesterday tor the purpose of arriving at a settlement of the claim for £7961 UlbM’ nit&k account of the contract which the Board recently cancelled. The secretary reported that after having mine carefully through the whole work, and its cost to the contractors, with their representative, Mi D. Stuart he recommended the Board r, O pay £4605 11s 8d to tbe contractors ; £IOOO to the National vlo"im!'Te and Agency Company, pmt £425 to Messrs King and Meikle for the class “A” locomotive, which they purchased on account of the contractors—a total of £6120 11s 81. The contractors wrote agreeing to accept this amount rather than have any farther trouble in tbe matter. A , oa o discussion ensued on matters of "detail, and it was finally resolved that the Board, without preiudice, should offer Messrs Black and Stumbss the sum of £6120 11s 8d in full settlement of all claims against the Board in the pastern extension contract, subject to the Board’s solicitor advising that tbe claim could be legally paid. The matter will be finally i settled at a meeting of the Hoard : to bo held in a fortnight’s time.
