The Bubonic Plague.

London, March 5. Four fresh cases of plague have occurred at Capetown, two whites and two Kaffirs. Sydney, March 6 Considerable delay is being caused to shipping owing to the necessity for quarantining and fumigation. The harbour in the vicinity of the quarantine ground presents an unusual sight owing to the detention there of so many big liners. Perth, March 6. Mr Kenworchy, head of a firm of city grocers, died. It was subsequently discovered that Ve was plague-infected. A man employed at Kenworthy’s developed suspicious symptoms and was removed to the hospital. A third supposed case is that of a Chinaman residing in the Federal buildings, which have been quarantined. Wellington, March 6. The Premier states that Capetown, Sydney and Brisbane have been declared infected ports, and all vessels arriving in New Zealand from Capetown are to be examined. All passengers are to be examined also.

The Customs Department in Timaru states that the following notice has been issued to all port health officers : “ Quarantine of twenty-four hours must be enforced against all vessels arriving from the Cape, Brisbane, and Sydney. Vessels are also to be inspected medically and cargo fumigated. This order to take effect from to-day (Wednesday). , (Signed) J. M. MASON." ‘
