Waimate Racing Club.

A committee meeting of the above was held in the Waimate Hotel on Saturday afternoon, there being present Messrs E. O. Studholme (chairman), Norton Frances, Mathias, S. Binney, M. O’Brien, sen., Dunn, O’Leary and J. W. Freeman (bon. sec.). The Chairman said that the secretary had received a sketch of a totalisator house from Messrs .Mason and Roberts, and prices had been obtained from the local builders.

Mr Mathias said they could only recommend its construction to the trustees.

The Chairman said the trustees would meet that afternoon. On the motion of Messrs Mathias and O'Leary, it was decided to recommend the trustees to have the totalisator house built as per. specification before the annual meeting, and that Mr Philip’s tender be accepted. The Secretary said that he had applied for a special train on the day of the races, but the Department could not entertain the proposal, but would issue excursion fares. A letter was received from Mr W. H. E, Wanklyn, secretary of the New Zealand Pacing Conference, with regard to the election of the country clubs’ delegates on the Pacing Conference.—The matter was held over.

Messrs Mason and Roberts were appointed to the working of the totalisator on the same terms as last year. It was resolved to offer the privileges for sale next Saturday. Tbs appointment of Starter was left in the hands of the president and secretary.

It was decided - ;to request tbe Mayor to proclaim the weekly . half holiday on the day of the races instead of the Thursday. The Secretary was instructed to see on what terms the band could be engaged. It was decided to call future meetings by circular.
