Waimate Horticultural Society.
A meeting of the above was held in the Fire Brigade Station last evening. Present—Messrs N. Francis (in the chair), Nicol, Akhurat, Atwill, Howard and Scott, and the Bev, McKenzie Hibson. A letter was received from the secretary of the Canterbury Horticultural Society, stating that there is a sum of £4 4s available, and that tbe disposal of it was left in the hands of this society.—The secretary was requested to write to the Canterbury Society, asking them to pu onasa a on,j of the value of £4 4s.
A letter was also received from M Knowles, offering a special prize of twelve roses - or carnations iior next show, the choice to be left to tbe winner, and the prize to be allotted as the oemmittee think fit.
A letter from the president of the Dunedin society was read, giving particulars of a conference of horticulturists, pomologists, viticulturists and entomologists to be held in Dunedin on May 21st, under the auspices of tbe Dunedin Horticultural Society. A o -mmittee, consisting of the Rev. McKenzie Gibson and Messrs Nicol, Atwill aud Scott, was appointed to gather a collection of fruit to send to the Dunedin Horticultural Society’s Winter Show. Delegates were also appointed to attend the Dunedin Show.
A recommendation to the next general meeting, that extra entries, Noa, 169, 172 and 178, for local exhibits only, and that in class 192 the entry should consist of one bottle of wine, was made. Accounts to tha,amount of £2 6s 3s were passed for payment the meeting adjourned.
