The Federal Government.
Sydney, February 20. A proclamation has been its;;a;, to the effect that the t-odora;' , Government takes over the Military and Na /al Defence Departments on March Ist. A meeting of‘the Federal Cabinet was held to-day. Sir G, Turner was absent through a slight-illness. The meeting discussed the -details in reference to taking over thro services, and also the Bill to be introduced. Mr Barton stated that owing to the large number of Bills to be dealt with, it was uncertain if the tariff would be dealt with during the first session of the Federal Parliament. February 21. The Federal Cabinet has decided to ask -the New Zealand and Canadian Governments to send troops to participate in the opening celebrations. A Feleral Hansard will be established. The question of fixing the site of the Federal Capital will first be submitted to the New South Wales Parliament.
