The Imperial Troops.
Auckland, February 16
The troopship Britannic arrived early this morning from Napier after a smooth passage, and was berthed at the railway wharf. A holiday is being observed in the city, and the streets and shipping are decorated with flags. Iha weather is flue and warm. The : march out starts at 11 o’clock. The Imperial troops received a very good reception to-day. Enormous crowds lined the streets, and the men were heartily cheered. Speeches were given by the Mayor and the Premier. The latter read a cable from Lord Roberts extending the visit till Monday or Tuesday. A most successful luncheon in the Domain was followed by military sports, £IOO being given in prize money. | February 17. The Imperial troops, accomoanied by Mr Seddon, Mr Ward, \nd others, left on a short visit to Rotorua early this morning. They ire expected back in Auckland tonorrow morning. Gisborne, February 16. Preparation? are being made for 1 fitting reception of the Indian troops on their arrival here next week.
