The Royal Visit.
London, February 12. It is reported at Portsmouth that the King aud Queen intend to witness the departure of the Duke and Duchess of York. The Channel Squadron will escoit the Ophir from England to Gibraltar ; the Mediterranean Squadron then accompanies her through the Mediterranean to Malta and Port Said. Torpedo destroyers will guard the through the Suez Canal. The cruisers St. George and Juno will have England on March 11th, will also escort the Royal yacht from-Suez to Perim, where the East Indian Squadron takes over the duty, and continues to New Guinea, where the Australian Squadron takes charge aud conveys the yacht to Sydney. London, February 13. The Times states that the Ophir will he commissioned in the present month, and that the Duke and Duchess of York leave in March. The cruise will occupy six months, and the Ophir will visit Gibraltar, Malta, Colombo, Singapore, all the Australian colonies, and t?/o ports in New Zealand, one in each Island, Mauritius, Gape Colony, and possibly one of the West Indian Islands and Canada. Ic is now reported that the extensive naval demonstrations published yesterday were unfounded. Melbourne, February 14. The Agent-General has cabled the Premier that Air Chamberlain hag authorised him to state that Melbourne will be the first port of call for the Duke and Duchess oi York.
