THE RATING ON UNIMPROVED VALUE POLL.
TO TUB EDITOR. rim,—The Advertiser is to be congratulated on the success which has resulted from its effective education b£ the public on the question of rating on unimproved value and of its persistent) agitation to obtain the reform for thia district. Your paper has fought the cause of the people on this question single-handed, and so far as the press is concerned, the successful carrying on of the reform both in County and Borough is duo entirely to the Advertiser. There were people who held that the Borough ratepayers did not sufficiently understand the question to vote on it. Those did not know how well the Advertiser is read, and Friday’s poll must have been an eyeopener to them. 235 votes to 01, and only 14 informal votes on a now question 1 ! That is surely proof enough that your advocacy of tho people’s cause has been a complete success.—l. am, &c., E. BANNER MAN.
