Proposed Jubilee Celebrations.
About twenty persons, including a number of ladies, attended at the Borough Council Oharaberi on Saturday afternoon to discus the question of holding a geni^d gathering and picnic to celobrato the Jubilee of the Province. Tho Mayor, Dr. Baieluy, wa« voted to the chair. Apologies were received from Messrs Garland and 'Franklin. On the >motion of the Rec WcKer zie Gibson a&d Mrßdck.tt it was unanimously d«-c<d d to hold a picnic and general gather ing to ceiebrate the Jubilee of tlw Province. The Chairman said that he hail called on the tnembdrs oj: tlw Foresters and Oddfellows' Lodges, and the Band had been asked by Air Hamilton to take part in tiuJ prcc Bsion. I Mr Beckett moved -and Mr] Mathias seconded "That fj«l gathering be held on InesdujJ January Ist, 1901."
