POST CARDS Town, Inland Australia, and South Sea Islands, single, Id ; reply, 2d. other places, single, l^d reply, 3d. BOOKS AND PBINTED PAPE All places, $d for each 2oz or fraction thereof. Christmas or any other seasonable or compimentary cards come underpins head. COMMEHCIAL PAPERS. Town, haf-penny if not exceeding half ounce, or Id for the first 4oz or fraction thereof, and a halfpenny for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. Inland, Id for the first 4oz or less, and halfpenny for each succeeding 2oz or fraction fcheieof Australia and all other places twopence halfpenny for the first 10oz, and halfpenny for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. now to pack. A book packet may be posted either without a cover (in which case it ma=it not be fastened in any way) or in a cover entirely open at one or both ends. Jt may be tied at the ends with string, but the string must be easy to unfasten. LIMITS OF SIZE AND WEIGHT. The limits of size for book-packets are 18in. in any diieetion. If made up in the form of a roll, a packet may measure up to 2tt. Gin. in length and 4in. in diameter ; the weight must not exceeJ. 4ib. PATTERN AND SAMPLE PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; additional 2oz or fraction thereof, one halfpenny. magazines (not registered). All places except Queensland, halfpenny for 2oz or fraction thereof. Queensland, Id per 4.0z or fraction thereof. magazines (registered). New Zealand, Australian colonies, except Queensland and Western AustiaHa, and Tasmania: Each copy, first Soz,Id ; every additional 4oz or fractic thereof, halfpenny. Queensland, Id for 4oz, or fraction cneieof. Western Australia and other places, as Id unregistered magazines. NEWSPAPERS. Town and Inland, halfpenny each. Australia, except Queensland, and South Sea Islands, Id each. All other places, including Queensland, Id each if not exceeding 4oz, and halfpenny additional for every succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. A newspaper must not contain any writing beyond the name and address of the addressee, the initials 01 natne and adcliess of the sender, and anyrnarks or 3igns simply intended to call attention to Dassage in a text. PARCELS. Inland, 6d for the first lib, and 3d for each succeeding lib or fi action thereof. Australian Colonies, Cook, Samoan, Norfolk, and Hawaiian Islands, 8d for the first lib, and 6d for each succeeding lib or traction thereof. The post office is not, by law, responsible for any loss or inconvenience which may arise from the non-delivery, missending or mis-delivery of any unregisered letter, or other postal packet, nor is it responsible for any injury which a packet may sustain during transmission. To guard against their being injured, all postal packets which aie likely to sulier from stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers. REGISTRATION. The fee for ail places is 3d. The sender of a registered article may obtain an acknowledgement of its due receipt by the addiessee on payment, at the time of posting of the article, of an " acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to the ordinary registration fee. Any 'etter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland paicel will be accepted for registration Parcels for places beyond the colony cannot be registered, DJLffiffi FEE LETTERS. Late fee letters must bear in addition to ordinary postage Id inland letters. ! 2d for letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id for letter cards or post cards however ad dressed. Such letters may be} posted in the guard's van up to the 'time of departure cf train. TELEGRAM' RATES IN NEW ZEALAND. Ordinary Telegrams. From any station to any station, For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, 6d. For every additional word, Id. !, Urgent Telegram 3. For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, Is. For every additional word, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
