RAIN MAKING EXPERIMENTS.

A Queensland paper aays thafe four mortars are being manufactured at Camerons foundry, Mackay, for the purpose of making an - experiment in the precipitation of rain by concussion. When finished an experiment will be made with them, also with' two cannons in the vicinity of Mackay. Although itis feared that the number of mortars may prove insufficient; to effect the desired object, still it ia hoped that some practical results may be achieved. The {experiment is based on an article on the preoipitation of rain by conoussion, published by the Queensland .Government last April in fche "Agricultural Journal." When MirM'Lean, the agricultural adviser,, was recently in Mackay, he promised to call the attention of the department; to the desirableness of directing Mr Wragge's attention to the subject during his visit to Europe, The experiment will probably be carrie out this week. , ,
