THE RATEPAYERS' MONEY
CO «?«» BDITOK £ The five Councillors who were re-! elected seem to be getting their backs;! <up on the question of the clerkship... Surely they cannot have a secret;; nominee for this position, although there must -be- something behind their action in postponing the appointment of a clerk-? da the -first oase when knowing that nomination for the councillorship must be in at 12 o'clock,' they said nothing until that time, and if the election is- upset, it will be their fault that the ratepayers have to stand the coat of another election. In the matter of thet?lerk-sbip, they allowed the advertißeoaent to <*ppe«r with, •certain omissions which they knew; would require to be re-advertised, butthey said nothing till it suited . them. These are' the men th^ ' ratepayers ' elected to repreaeqt them on the Oouncil, and whro promised to *-look: after their money."— l-*nif eto«» Dis&usted.
