THEM PUPS.
An old son of the Emerald Isle named Mickey Feany was a bit of a character in his way, and in the township where he dwelt life was noted for his attachment to strong waters. Having a couple of pups he met the Presbyterian clergyman of the district and wanted the Matter to buy them assuring " His Worship" (us he styled the minister) at the samb time that they were real Presbyterian pups. « His Worship " was not on to buy, but said to Mickey. "No-v, Mickey, if I gave you a shilling you would only go and drink it, " to which Mickey replied, "Sure an' -I would." The minister met thfe Roman Catholic clergyman a few days after and they had a good laugh over the incident. Shortly after this Mickey met them th« 3 priest, and saying " <J O od morning, your Eiveiince, I have n couple of pups to sell," this -time calling them real Catholic pups that they belonged to the Church* His Reverence, laughing, said, " That will not do, Mickey, you wanted to sell the pups the 'other day as real Prebbyterian pups. At this Mickey scratched his head, saying, "That is so, your Riverince, but their eyes were not opened then." The same character -was charged with being drunk, and when asked whether he pleaded guilty or not guilty, said, " Sure, that's what your Worship's met here to decide ; would you lot me hear the evidence first ?
