HOW TO PACK. A book packet may be posted eithei without a cover (in which case it must [ not be fastened m any -tray) or in a oovei I entirely open at one or both ends. It may ■ be tied at the ends with string, but the stiing must be easy to unfasten.
WMTTS OF bIZE AND WEIGHT. The limits of btae for book-packets are 18in. in any direction. If made ujnn the form of a xoll, a packet may measure np to 2£t. 6in. in length and 4in.in diameter ; the weight must not exceed 41b. PATJERN AND SAJIPLIi PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; every additional 2oz or fi action theieof. one halipenny.

The post office is not, by k.vr, respon1 for any loss or inconvenience which may ariae from the non-delivery, misending or mis-delivery of any unregiaered letter, or other postal packet, nor is it esponsible^for .any injury which a packet may sustain during transmission. To guard against their being injuied, al} postal packets which are likely to suffer fioni stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers.
REGISTRATION. I The fee for all places is 3d. The -sender of a registered article may obtain an acknowledgement of its due receipt by the addressee on payment, ut the time of posting of the article, of an " acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to the ordinarj registration fee. Any letter card, post oard, book, o other packet, newspaper, or -inland parcel will be accepted tor registration Parcels lor places beyond^ the- colony cannot be registered.
liATE FEE LETTERS. < Late fee letters must bear .in addition ■to ordinary postage. Id for inland letters. 2d for letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny .for all 'Other Id for letter cards or post cards however ad dressed. Such letters may be posted in tbe guard's van up to the time of departure cf train.
