THE CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
TO THE EDITOR. SIR : In your issue of Saturday, Ist current, I notice the annual meeting of the Caledonian Society is called for Saturday, 15th inst., at the Empire Hotel. With all due respect to the officials of the Caledonian Society, I venture to protest against their action in calling a meeting at an hotel. Surely there are other places where meetings can be arranged at. The Agricultural Society hold their meetings in the County Council Chambers, and even supposing the Caledonian Society's meeting must be held at night could not arrangements be made for meeting there too. lam not a Prohibitionist, and do not oppose it on that ground. Moreover, I am aware that others as well as myself object to holding meetings of public societies in pubiichouees. — I am, etc., X.
