A short thre ago a squad of 1 volunteers for the front weie being examined by an officer, who asked them if they all had got Uaar i lather's consent. They all answeied ■ yea, but the officer noticed that one I of them answered very sheepishly, I so ho asked him if he had got ius father's consent. The youth replied, " Yes." , "What did he say?" a&kod tho officer, j ' lie said, < You devil, if you i funk it noo I'll break your neck,' '* | replied the youth, arnidsi, the laughter of his mates.
