Our Volunteers.

o A parade of the Waimate Rifles was held last evening, Lieut. Jackson being in command of the thirty-five men present, "which, considering the wet weather, was a very good muster. The men were exercised in company drill by Lieut. Jackson, and put through the manual, firing and bayonet exorcises by the non - commissioned officers. Throe candidates were elected members of the corps and tfwo proposed for membership. Lieut, Jackson intimated that members of the corps would be pleased to hear that their comrade, Trooper T» M. Freeman( was returning by the s.o. Gothic. A meeting of the Social Committee was held after the parade, and final arrangements were made for the sooial, to- be held on August 2&.
