The usual monthly meeting of the Hospital Board was held yesterday afternoon, present — Messrs Sinclair (chair), Atwill, Jones, lukster, and Dr Barclay. The question of constructing a telephone was held ov®r till next meeting, owing to the small attendance. It wae resolved to write and ask the South- Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to forward their contribution now due to the Board. Dr Barclay brought up the question ef examining the nurses, Nurse Qninn' having completed .her course of three years. It was resolved to appoint Drs Cruickshank and Nf colls to examine the nurses for their certi-' (icates, the arrangements tp be left in the hands of the Medical Superintendent.
