Tha largest and most successful sooial , ever held by the Presbyterians of Si. Andiaw.s was held in the new ohuroh on Thursday evening, the 18th inst. Tablei * ware laid in the Library Hall, and wen tastefully decorated and superintended bj Mesdaines D Ogilvie, G. Imin, D. Mariin, ' G. Lyall, J. Berry, and W. Young, assisted by Misseß E. Bruoe, Adamson, Wstt,' Anderson, Stowell, Copeland, and Keddi« (2). The tables were laden with th» verfchoicest of edibles and .fruit of erer) description, provided by the .ladies of thi t congregation, and were done ample justic* too, until 8 o'clock when an adjournment was made to the church. Here the second part of the programme commenced when the pastor, the K«v. Robert Mackie, took ; the cliair, and introduced the members of the Tiraaru Presbytery, amongst wboo w«re the Revs. Barony, GilHea, Wbitl, Todd, Morrison, and Lawrie. Bbort, addreßßes -were deliveied by the different' members. Trinity Choir to the numberof t 30 supplied excellent music, singing sevenl 1 anthems in good ityle. The following*; contributed solos : - Misses CaniptwlitAnd«rson, and Strachan, and M«sirt; Philip and Kannedj. Vot«« of thanili wer* passed to the ladies by the Eev. M£ Morrison, to the choir by the Bey. kfi Bruce Toid, to the speakers bytheßer.^ Mr Brady. Mr MaeHe proposed a hearty.
