COMMERCIAL PAPERS. Town, half-penny if not exceeding half ounce, or Id for the first 4oz or fraction tLie^eof, and a half penny for each succeeding 2oz or fiaction thereof. HOW TO PACK. A book packet may be posted eithei without a cover (in. which cast it must Eot be fastened in any way) or in a coy er entirely O pea at one or both ends. It may be tied at the ends with string, but the String must be easy to unfasten.

A newspaper must not contain any ■wiitmg bejoud the name ami addresb of the addres&ee, the initials or mime and addiess of the sender, and an . u»nks or signs simply intended to call attention to passage in a text.
PARCELS. Inland, 6d for the first lib, and 3d for each succeeding lib or ft action thereof. Australian Colonies, Cook, Samoan, iSforf oik, and Hawaiian Islands, 8d for the firtt lib, and 6cl for each succeeding lib n action thereof. _ The post office is not, by law, responsibl for any loss or inconvenience which may arise from the non-deliveiy, mis sending or in is>- delivery of any unregistered letter, or other postal packet, nor is it eopoDß.ble for any injury which a, packet may sustain durinj, transmission. To guard against their being lujiued, all postal packets which aie likely to sull'er from stamping or from great^ piessure should be placed in strong covers.
REGISTRATION. The fee for all places is 3d. The sender of a registeied aiticle may obtain an acknowledgement of its due xeeeipt by the addressee on payment, at the time of pceting of the article, of an " acknowledgment lee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to the ordinary registiation fee. Any letter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland paicel will be accepted for registration Parcels" for places beyond the colony cannot be registered.
JbATE FEE liETTEBS. I^ate fee letters must bear in addition to th ordinary postage, Id for inland letters. 2d for letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id for letter cards or post cards however addressed. Suoh letters may be posted in the guard's van up to the time of departure of the train.
TELEGRAPH BATES IN HEW ZEALAND. Ordinary Telegvams. From any station to any station, Fo the words or lees, including address and signature, 6d. For eveiy additional word, Id. Urgent Telegrams. For the first 12 words* or less, including address and signature, Is. For every additional word, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
