Objections. j - An objection was made* license being granted W\ Waimate BLotoi as it wanted »j deal of repairs. i r\ Mr Hamilton appeared ~Q applicant, and pointed out| the contract for more iepa"*j had been required had W| all objection was removed. | The Chairaian stated tM| were giveE to understand'^

necessary repairs had been arranged tor and that it was more than likely that within the next three years a new building would be put ud in place of the present one. They would therefore grant the license. Objection was made to granting a license to Pukaki Hotel, on the oronnd of having no bath-room nor sitting-room. Mr Rolleston appeared for the .applicant, and declared that owing to the nearness of the lake, a bathroom was not an urgent necessity. As regards the sitting-room, the travellers, who wero the only visitors at the hotel, stay only one mu'ht and do not need a sittingroom It was likely that the hotel would be closed if the Government improve the traffic between Fan-lie and the Hermitage. The committee thought that under the circumstances they would not put the owners of the hotel to any unnesessary expense, and granted the license. All the licensees were granted the extension to 11 o'clock. At the close of the other business Mr Miller moved and Mr Bradshaw seconded the follow ing resolution : Tbat the committee recognise the .highly efficient manner m which Mr Parker has carried on the duties of .clerk, and "recommend that his seruccs be recognised in a more liberal way by an increase of .salary.
