Cycling Club's Sports.

, -On Thursday, thetStar Cycling Club held a sports gathering, commencing at one o'clock and finished about three o'clock. There were good entries, and' .though the track was very rough, the rifling was good. A. noticeable feature; of -the riding was the utter absence of stiff riding, each man taking his turn' -at and doing his best to wiu. r Tiie handicappiug was very good, there being eloae finishes in each race. The. boys' racea called forth good fields, and some of the riding was very good, though the first race was rather long. Owing to no entries being forthcoming for the ladies' race -and married men's race, these events were cut out of the .programme. About 250 people attended the meeting. The receipts art the gate were M 11s 9cl, which with the entry monoy made up the atnonnt to ,<£9 183 6d,' which was divided up ,as prizes. The| club intend to make >the meeting an annual fixture.
