HOW TO PACK. A book packet may be posted either without a cover (in which case it must not be fastened in any way) or in a coTer r entirely open at one or both ends. It may bo tied at the ends with string, but the Mitring must be easy to unfasten.
LIMITS OF bIZE AND WfiIGHT. The limits of size for book-packets are 18in. in any direction. If made up in the form of a roll, a packet may measure up to 2ft. 6in. in length and 4in. in diameter ; ~the weight must not exceed 4ib. PATTERN AND SAMPLK PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; •very additional 2oz or fraction thereof, halfpenny. magazines (not registered). All places except Queensland, halfpenny per 2oz or iraction thereof. Queensland, Id per 4oss or fraction ' thereof. magazines (registered). The post office is not, by law, responj .sibl for any loss or inconvenience which .may arise from ih§ non-delivery, missiending or mis-delivery of any unregistered letter, or other postal packet, nor is it esponsible for any injury which a packet may sustain during transmission. To guard against their being injured, all postal packetß which are likely to suffer from stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers. REGISTRATION. The fee for all places is 3d. The sender of a registeied article may obtain jan acknowledgement of its due reoeipt by the addressee on payment, at the time of posting oi the article, of an " acknowledgment fee" of tvropence halfpenny, in .addition to the ordinary registration tee. Any letter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland parcel will be accepted for registration. Parcels for places beyond the coloiay cannot be registered. XjaTE FEE LETTERS. Late fee letters must bear in addition to aibe ordinary postage, Id for luland letters. 2d tor letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id for letter cards or post cards however addressed. Such letters may ba posted in the gguaid's van up to the time of departure of the train. TELEGRAPH RATES IN NEW ZBALANJ*. Oidinary Telegrams. From any station to any station, Fo the words or leas, including address and signakire, 6d. For every additional woid, Id. Urgent Telegrams. For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, Is. For every additional woid, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
