'COMMERCIAL PAPEBS. Town, half-penny if not exceeding half -ounce, or Id for the first 4oz or fraction thereof, and a halfpenny for each succeeding 2oz or fraction thereof. Inland, Id for the first 4oz or less, and for .each succeeding 2oz or {fraction thereof Australia and all otherplaces, twopence halfpenny for the first 10oz, and halfpenny for each succeeding 2oz or fraction e&hereof.
i ' "HOW TO PACK. Aijook packet may be posted either "without a cover (in which case it must "not be fastenedin any way) or in a cover' asntirely open at one or both ends. It may l)e tied at the ends with string, but the ' istring must be easy to unfasten.
EIMITSOT SIZE AND WEIGHT. The limits of size for book-packets are 38in. in any direction. If made up in the :form of a roll, a packet may measure up rio 2ft. 6in. in length and 4in. in diameter ; iihe weight must -not exceed 41b.
PATTEBN AND SAMPLE PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; "ttsvery additional 2oz or fraction 'thereof , halfpenny.
magazines (not registered). All places except Queensland, halfpenny jper 2oz or fraction thereof. Queensland, Id per 4oz or fraction ithereof.
magazines (registered). New Zealand, Australian colonies, •except Queensland and Western Austraa, and Tasmania : Bach copy, first Boz, Id ; every additional 4oz or .fraction thereof, 'halfpenny. Queensland, Id ior 4oz or fraction thereof. Western Australia and -other places, as ■or unreggistered maazmes.
HEWSPAPEKS. Town and Inland, halfpenny each. Australia, except Queensland, and South Sea Islands, Id each. All other places, including Queensland, Id each if not exceeding 4oz, and halfpenny additional for every succeeding Soz or fraction thereof. A newspaper must not contain any "writing heyond the name and address of the addressee, the initials or name and address of the sender, and any marks or signs simply intended 'to call 'attention to passages in -a text.
PABCEIiS. Inlantt, 6d ior the first lib, and 3d for each succeeding lib or fraction thereof. Australian Colonies, Cook, Samoan, Norfolk, and Hawaiian Islands, 8d for the iirst lib, and 6d for each succeeding lib or iraction thereof. The post office is not, by law, responsible for any loss or inconvenience which may arise from the non-delivery, missending or .mis- delivery of any unregistered letter, or otherpostal packet, nor is it responsible for any injury which a packet may sustain during transmission. To guard against their being injured, all postal packets which are likely to suffer zfrom stamping or from great pressure should be placed in strong covers.
.BEGISTBATION. The fee for all places is 3d. The .-sender of a registered article may obtain ■an acknowledgement of Its due receipt by i;he addressee on payment, at the time of posting of the "article, of an " acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to the ordinary registration fee. Any letter, letter card, post card, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland parcel will be accepted for registration. Parcels for places bejond the colony cannot be registered.
XiATE FEE LETTERS. j Late fee letters must bear in addition to j the ordinary postage, Id for inland letters. I 2d for letters for Australia and the '. South Sea Islands. I Twopence halfpenny, for all other places. | Id for letter cards or post cards however addressed. i Such letters may be posted in the guard's van up to the time of departure of iihe train.
TELEGRAPH BATES IN NEW ZEALAIrt). Ordinary Telegrams. From any station to any station, For the first 12 words or less, including address and signature, 6d. For every additional word, Id. Urgent Telegrams, For the first 12 words or less,, including address and signature, Is. For every additional word, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
