Rleichant? will not buy for shipment via Sydney or Wellington, ag 'she fi eights are too hs^-y, and the time [taken to reach here so long. The war [will make things very bad for some time, | When the covmtiy i<. settled under th? British flag it will be a very big market 'for all lines of pzoduce, and I think if the companies wero appioached with regaid to the direct life of steamers -making Duiban the firot port cf call, an(J going into Jiast London, Port Elizabath, and Capetown, to discharge South Afiicaa cargo, and then on to London, possibly the companies may make an offer that would be satisfactory. New Zealand must have cheap and regular freight oj complete with America and Australia.
j "We need a Dew office-boy, sir," said I the book-keeper. ' • Very well," replied the proprietor, "advertise for one. Add t<? the advertisement: One not afflicted' tyit& the stamp-collecting fever preferred,"
