HOW TO PACK. A 'o< X im' l> + may be posted eithei "witl'out a co\ei (in which case it must snot be fastened in any way) or in a cover entirely open at one or both ends. It may he tied, at the ends with string, but the string must be easy to unfasten.
MMITB OP SIZE AND •WEIGHT. The limits of Mze for boob-packets are 18in. in aDy direction. If made up in the Jorm of a roll, a packet may measure up ■to 2ft. 6in. in length and 4in. in diameter ; the weight must not exceed 41b. PATTERN AND SAMPLE PACKETS. All places, not exceeding 4oz, Id ; •svery additional 2oz; or fraction thereof, cne halfpenny.

NEWSPAPERS. 1 Town and Inland, halfpenny each Australia, except Queensland, and outh Sea Islands, Id each. A newspaper must not contain" any ■writing beyond the name and address of the addressee, the initials or name and addiees of the sender, and any rnaiks or signs simply intended to call attention to passages in a text.

The post office is not, by law, responsible for any loss or inconvenience which may arise from the non delivery, miss^ndin^ or mis- delivery of any unrepistejed letter, or other postal packet, nor is it lespons ble for any injury which a packet may sustain auiinf, transmission. To guard agaiust their being injured, all postal packet* which aie likely to suffer irom stamping or from great pressuie should be placed in strong covers. KEGISTP.ATION. The fee for all places is 3d. The render of a legistered article may obtain *n acknowledgement of its due leceipt by the addressee on payment, at the time of posting of the article, of an '■ acknowledgment fee" of twopence halfpenny, in addition to theoidinaiy legishationfee. Any letter, letter caid, postcard, book, or other packet, newspaper, or inland parcel will be accepted for registration. Parcels for places beyond the colony cannot be registered.
LATE FEE LETTERS. Late fee letters must bear in addition to the ordinary postage, Id for inland letters. 2d for letters for Australia and the South Sea Islands. ; Twopence halfpenny for all other places. Id for letter cards or poet' cards however addressed. Such letters may be posted in the ' guard's van up to the time of departuie of the train.

Urgent Telegrams. For the first 12 words or lees, including address and signature, la. For every additional word, 2d. On Sundays, double the above rates.
