Parliamentary. (BY OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Wellington, August 7.

The feeling of Wellington people againrt debt collecting companies, says Mr Fisher, has been strongly expressed at public meetings, therefore he asked the Premier if he was going to proceed with the Imprisonment for Debt Abolition Bill, as promised last session. Mr Seddon said h« would, do so, as it was necessary that something should be done to remedy an evil. The State should not do anything to prevent or discourage people from paying their legitimate debts. At the same there was no doubt whatever that these agencies had giown to svch an extent, and the purposes which they were devoted were such that the agencies weie inimical to the best interests of the country. There was another phase of the matter, and he did not know how long they were going to stand it. That was, that the number of Magistrates would have to be increased, owing to the tremendous increase in small debt casea brought by these agencies. The taxpayers had to pay so much eveiy year to cdilect debts for the agencies. He would give the House an opportunity to express its opinion on to* subject. ;

Allen ia asking the Coloni*} Treasurer whether the rebate of rent* payable by Crown tenants, proposed on page 7 of the Financial Statement, is to be for all Crown tenants, including pastoral tenants, and whether the J per cent* rebate is to be on the rent payable* or on the interest charged on the capital value.
