Commercial. DUNEDIN MARKETS. (By Telegraph.) Dunedin, August 2.
Tliere was better -weather to day, but there was only a moderate yardingand a limited attendance. Sheep. — There was a rather better yarding of sheep, the number being 3204. On the whole pi ices dropped fully Is to Is 6d a head. A prime lot of wethers (sold by Mr John Grindley) fetched 17s, and the remainder brought from 13s to 15s. There was also a drop in ewes, but, an exceptionally fine pen sold by Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co. realised 15s, others 9s to 10s. Lambs.— Onlv.^ 118> were in the market, r^rfd none of them could be considered' first class- Prices tanged from Ss to 10s 6d.\ Pigs. — 11$ w ere yarded this week, as against 37 at the last sale, and not' ' withstanding this prices were agaia tfp. Quotations — Suckers 14s to 18fe> Blips 19s to 22s 6d, stores 26s to 30s, porkers
40s to 425, light baccmers 47s to 50s, heavy pigs £3. The quality of pigs \arded to-day was exceptionally good, but it cannot be said that the prices of baconers was higher to-day. Storey, slips, and porkers sold remarkably 1 well. Cattle. — There were a few moie "head than last week, 224 being yarded. Prices, on the whole, weie a shade ! lower, but not more than 2s 6d. Up to the time the train left a bullock I bought by Mr D. Cairuthers. of Maungrttua, had realised the top price, ]\lr Grindley obtaining .£8 35s for it. The average run of' bullocks fetched from £5 to £8. There was a poor lot of cows and heifers in the yard, the average price being £1 10s. Exceptional beasts fetched high prices.
